HEADROOM

HEADROOM

Providing career and wellbeing support for professionals across the audio industry.

  • My name is Brendon Harding and over the past twenty years I’ve been an assistant, a recording engineer, a mixing engineer, and a producer. I’ve run studios, managed engineers, worked for brands and seen the industry from a multitude of angles.

I’ve created records with Lee “Scratch” Perry, Little Simz, Jessie Ware, Disclosure and more.

I’ve worked for Red Bull, Strongroom Studios and Spitfire Audio, running sessions in some of the finest studios in the UK.

I’ve been in the studio with artists and labels breathing down your neck, urging you to work faster and better than is humanly possible.

I’ve felt the worry of submitting the mix for approval and the nerves as you open the email/whatsapp/DM/voicenote full of revisions.

I’ve made the sacrifices and put the hours in to get the project/album over the line, whilst balancing a young family.

  • Consistent one-to-one support through a balance of coaching, mentoring and management advice.

I’m the sounding board to help you find solutions, and the sense-check to keep you in line with your goals.

I’m the sympathetic and unbiased ears when you need to let out the challenges you face in this crazy industry.

I will have your back and support you in making choices that influence your career and your wellbeing.

  • I’ve been lucky enough to work in a variety of roles, sectors and genres so this really is for anyone in the wider audio world. Engineers, Producers, Studio Managers, Composers, Technicians, Product Designers, etc. are all welcome here.

  • We catch up for an hour, twice a month on the phone/video call/in person (where possible) to check in on where you’re at - with your career and your mental wellbeing. We will talk through any challenges you're facing or concerns you see coming in the future. Through a mixture of coaching, mentoring and management support the aim is to help you find both perspective on your situation and solutions to enable you to progress.

Over the first two calls we’ll get to know each other better and start to identify your big career goals, which will be used to help influence and guide future decisions. After that the calls will always be led by you, to address/explore the topics most important to you at that time. I’m not here to impose a course structure or pre-planned topics that don’t align with your career and lifestyle. We’ll be dynamic and fluid, reacting to what you need - addressing issues, celebrating your wins, building towards your goals, being a space to vent your frustrations, etc.

  • This additional call is open to everyone that is part of the support service and is held virtually once a month. The goal is to bring people together and break down the silos that many audio professionals can get stuck in. With music as the common language the group call will normally revolve around that but it’s an open floor for people to share their losses and wins with a like-minded cohort.

  • Calls are charged at £150 per call, with a minimum of 2x and a maximum of 4x per month. Additional calls can be arranged on an ad-hoc basis (diary dependent) to provide support for specific topics/issues/opportunities or they can be booked on a regular basis should you feel the need for more frequent support. There is no contract and no minimum duration so invoices will be sent monthly until you decide you’d like to stop the service. The support service is tax deductible in the UK (international clients should check their local tax laws) as a business cost for all self-employed or limited companies.

  • If you’d like to start receiving support then GET IN TOUCH below and we can book in a quick call to answer any intitial questions you may have. If you want to proceed from there then we’ll book in your first 2 calls to get to know each other better. During the second call we’ll establish the number of calls you’d like to book per month and the best times to do them in the diary.
